14th May 2015
Statewide River and Stream Management ran a “Spill Response” Training Day for warehouse staff at AGL Loy Yang on the 14th May 2015.
The 3 hour workshop was a mixture of theory and practical “hands on” training specifically targeted at the stock they are handling on site, such as lubricants, degreasers and grease products. It incorporated their internal policies and procedures when dealing with a spill on site.
The course aimed to provide;
- Knowledge to support spill prevention and management
- Hazard assessment and equipment selection
- Incident reporting and notification
- Disposal and remediation obligations
- Practical use of spill kit products
The course was positively received by the participants who enjoyed the practical exercises where they used the spill products to actually stop, surround, cover, sweep the spill and dispose of clean up materials in line with internal AGL procedures and legislative requirements.
Participant’s feedback included;
“Practical component was very useful”
“Presentation was easy to follow and understand”
“I’ve spoken to a couple of people who participated in the training and their feedback to me was also really positive, so thanks again for the effort and flexibility around our timing requirements”.
